kimya: a listening and reading room

kimya is a series of deep sonic and textual experiments inspired by the music of the black diaspora.

Focusing on Congolese rumba in its inaugural collection, kimya will operate as a dual listening and reading room, inviting participants into an intimate, intentional space to engage with music as an entry point into history.

Bio: Jessica Kasiama is a Toronto-based writer and cultural worker. She is interested in exploring themes of safety, transformation, and belonging across creative disciplines, as well as through open dialogue and community-building. Her writing and conversations have been published by C Magazine, Inuit Art Quarterly, The Creative Independent, and more.
