To pick up the pieces is an exhibition curated by Guidance Council featuring Golboo Amani, Kristi Chen, Laura Grier and Khadijah Morley that reflects upon collective grief and what emerges from its aftermath.

Operations is an ongoing project by artist Ibrahim Abusitta, where video footage of Palestinian resistance is redrawn, frame by frame, as a hand-drawn animation. By recreating each image on paper by hand, the work transforms footage that would never be shown in legacy media into something tactile and enduring. The project explores how we see and process images of the struggle, creating a space to slow down and reflect on what is routinely erased or left unseen.

A dedication to the special qualities of memory, connection, and placekeeping. This room is an exploration of reciprocity, of curiosity, and preservation. It is a faint outward expression of the inward experience – a glimpse. Using visual non-clarity to embrace opacity and reticence. A symbol of leisure as a form of resistance and of spatial agency. To anchor and sustain, over time, our personal and collective memories of place, of belonging, of warmth.

Field Research explores dialogue, memory and labour using audio and textile. The exhibition emerges from a workshop series in which South Asian youth were invited to unearth and preserve their families’ migration stories.

This exhibition is a proposition for a different 888 Dupont. The now-demolished live-work space holds a legendary status in our urban history. Within its crumbling walls, artists launched their careers, roamed the halls of their idols, took artistic risks, traded equipment and skills, and opened their spaces for community use. When all the residents were eventually evicted in 2021, many left without a fight, either due to a lack of resources, or accepting that this way of life was never meant to last.

Griefs & Glimmers brings together high-risk, covid-aware 2SQTBIPoC artist-organizers to reflect on five years of care work in the pandemic. Through collaborative collage-making and archival practices, participants will explore the textures, griefs, and glimmers of harm reduction and community care.

Solidarity Seeds engages precarious urban agricultural workers across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) — those growing food under conditions that rarely feed them back. Despite meeting urgent needs for local, healthy food access, these workers continue to navigate hostile environments: ongoing discrimination, exploitative workloads, and workplace retaliation, particularly for queer and trans growers. Insights from a full-day gathering focused on co-learning urban agricultural and land liberation practices will be transformed into a collective zine and a series of ceramic seedling pods — vessels that carry both story and seed — to be shared with the public through an exhibition.

The First Dawn, known worldwide simply as The Signal, is the earliest known animal-created Cognitive Inscription, or CogIns. We do not know the age of First Dawn. We do not know its mechanism of transmission. To the best of our knowledge, First Dawn has been broadcasting beyond our galaxy without pause since before it was human-discovered.

Derailing Dignity reflects on the experience of migrant workers who deliver food using bikes in Toronto. The intent of the work is to zoom in on the particular intersection of both gig work and migrant labour, holding room for the many ways in which dignity is far removed from the very hands of those that feed us.

Public Infrastructure is an interactive installation featuring video art and textile sculptures, transforming a hostile landscape into a dreamlike site of play.

kimya is a series of deep sonic and textual experiments inspired by the music of the black diaspora.

After completing Canada’s transcontinental railway in 1885, the government sought to expel the Chinese workers who’d made it possible, by enacting 100 anti-Chinese policies, laws and Head Taxes, culminating with the 1923 Chinese Exclusion Act, a complete ban on Chinese immigration.

The Professor’s Desk pairs documents from the Asian Canadian Labour Alliance’s (ACLA) archives within the frame of a professor's office. This project looks particularly at four cases of discrimination on or relating to Canadian universities; the W5 Campus Giveaway TV Special from 1979, Professor Kin-Yip Chun's case of racial discrimination against the University of Toronto, MacLean Magazine's "Too Asian" article from 2010, and current barriers facing international students across the country.

After the Cataclysm, Before the Storm is an intimate reflection on losing place and becoming placeless. The efforts of this inquiry are focused on Vietnam where history moves at a rapid cadence. Within the period of one lifetime the country has convulsed from divisive wars for liberation from French to American occupations, communist reunification and a transition to a capitalist market economy.

Guided by the sensorial nature of clay-making, Within and Without, is a meditation on the genealogy of sustenance, dream worlds and the rituals that hold us. Related to the intimacy of touch, Within and Without, brings together artists and makers to mould objects, motifs and shapes that trace geographic, spiritual and creative belonging/unbeloning.

A little food is a feast (2022) is a collection of stories - of love, grief, tenderness and vulnerability. They’re stories that are meant to be shared with you, but the details are mine to keep.

As a site of physical and metaphorical fermentation, wet like an open vowel sound is a project on the materiality of culture. In its microbiological sense, bacterial culture is what allows fermented foods to flourish, creating a lineage of symbiosis and care.

The pieces exhibited are a result of the artist's time in the LaunchPAD program.

Exploring topics of extinction and the commodification of nature, Last Species On Earth is a multi-channel video installation which weaves together a speculative reality where the last surviving specimens of plant and animal origin are kept in incubation chambers, situating viewers as zoo attendees. Last Species On Earth fragments the evolution of plants and animals as we know them today, following what natural selection would look like if nature were to adapt in total agreement with humanity's desire to domesticate it.

Is there a point where you can feel like you’ve done your due diligence to learn everything about your heritage? How do you reconnect with your culture and identity in moments when you feel too Canadian? Where do you consider home?

here-there listening room is a space that invites members of the Asian Canadian diaspora to contemplate these nuanced questions together. A community-driven exhibition, the listening room is centered around nineteen unguided audio stories shared by Asian Canadians across Canada. Each story is inextricably linked to the next, weaving a rich anthology of lived histories and experiences.

Tracing the “crevice between hope and despair”, a space that Palestinians know all too well, Revolution Must Mean Life presents a glimpse into the intersections of the labour movement and the Palestinian liberation movement. With poetry at its core, the project amplifies a collective call to action from Labour For Palestine that transcends BDS resolutions and highlights the central role of workers’ struggles in the resistance against the Zionist regime.

Not all cleaning is false is a solo exhibition by interdisciplinary artist Alessandra Pozzuoli, featuring work made in response to her experiences mourning her maternal grandmother.

For the project, “Chinatown, the best!”, we ask seniors in the Chinatown area to envision what would make Chinatown a great place to live, a place of communion. What kind of amenities, services, cultural events would they like to see? Spending time with seniors at community centres in weekly gatherings, we will learn more of who they are, what they need/desire, what they would like to share of their skills and experiences.
